Many plays, for example Oedipus, use a strategic drama element known as foreshadowing. The writer first gives a hint of what is to come three pages into this remarkable play; (Pg 943 paragraph 100 creon:) “We must banish or murder to free ourselves from a murderer that blows storms through the city." This raises questions and makes the reader want to know more, which is the key component of story writing. Foreshadowing like this occurs frequently throughout the play.
