Why is he doing this?

Okay so yesterdaerday i texted my ex because i thought he was mad and me and we talked about it and then we talked about school n then we went to sleep. So today when we went out for recess (yes im in 8th grade and i have recess :P) he was standing against the fence of the park and i got on the swing and my friend who was on the swing next to me said that he was staring at me so sure enough i turn around n he was staring at me n he didnt have a serious look on his face but he was kinda grinning hard to explain but i still really like him and his friend says that he doesnt like me anymore but then about two days ago i was crying cuz i missed him and yesterday when he texted me he was like why were you crying about 2 days ago im lik you noticed and hes like yea i was gonna go talk to you but (my friend) seemed mad at me n im like well if i tell you itll ruin it (that were not mad at each other or upset) and hes lik no tell me what happened i wont take it peronally im lik ok and i told him n he said oh that explains it ...n i sometimes catch him staring at me what does he do this? does he still like me or is it something else? HELP :P and we went out during the summer broke up and the got back together in november and he broke up with me on new years n this time he broke up with me bcuz he said it didnt feel right knowing that he hurt me before(the break up i was REALLY sad) so i wanna know if he does lik me how can i get it too turn into something special again? btw he was my first bf and i was his first gf so i see how he feels guilty for making me sad
