Does an apostrophe have to last the whole poem?

When I say apostrophe, i don't mean the grammatical mark. I mean the literary device of an apostrophe, which is when the author addresses something inanimate (such as "O little town of Bethlehem", the example given by my packet). However, my packet does not say if an apostrophe must last the entire length of the poem. Does anyone know?
