Any luck with st johns wort - antidepressants dont work?

I worked at a pharmacy for years, and have heard it all... I really think the effectiveness depends on the person. There are definitely lots of people out there who've taken St. John's Wort and swear by it. In any case, it's safer than rx drugs, and can't hurt to try. You may have to stay on it awhile to see if it's working. In regards to doctors' opinions on alternative med treatments like this, I have almost universally heard that they say the same thing: may or may not work, see if it works for you.
